Principal Loses Her Job After Appearing In Trey Songz Video
A Southampton High School principal–who’s just trying to reach these kids through music–has lost her job after appearing in a video for JR’s “Best Friends,” featuring Trey Songz.
In the video, Esther Adler-O’Keefe makes a completely innocuous appearance as a woman going on vacation with her husband, telling the rapper, “Enjoy yourself. Just remember, security’s here.” Sadly for her character, and for real life Adler-O’Keefe as it turns out, the rappers throw a super trill party with dancers, alcohol, and weed.
The content of the video, and specifically the party and Adler-O’Keefe’s association with it, was not okay with the Southampton school district, which has reassigned her to “oversee a variety of academic support services throughout the district.”
“The video in question showcases behaviors and language use that is not promoted by the Southampton School District,” the superintendent Dr. Scott Farina tells the Southampton Press. “In fact, we actively teach our students the importance of good character and making smart choices. Additionally, this is not representative of who we are as a district, nor of our students and staff.” Twerking does not fall under “smart choices” in Southampton, Long Island, apparently.
Adler-O’Keefe says she didn’t know what the content of this rap video was when she signed up. “When I agreed to participate, I was completely unaware of the content, lyrics, and title of the video and song,” she said. Adler-O’Keefe must have thought the bikini-clad women featured in the “Next Morning” section of the video were just really sleepy.
Though her time at Southhampton High School was brief, Adler-O’Keefe will forever be the chillest principal in the school’s history. And JR and Trey Songz will always have “Two bitches twerkin’, screamin’ that’s my best friend.”
