This Video Is the Reason Michael Jordan Can’t Sell His Fabulous Estate
You didn’t need a high-production-value trailer to point out that Michael Jordan has a nicer house than you. You can naturally assume that the legendary basketball player deals in far nicer things than we can ever hope to own. But, imagine for a second that you’re not broke. Imagine that you have $14.9 million to spend on a house.
With that demographic in mind, Michael Jordan and his realtor, Kofi Nartey, have created the above video, which attempts to bully you into purchasing this fabulous estate.
You say you’re great at entertaining. Have you seen my pool pavilion?
Okay, that’s a little aggressive, but sure, it’s a very nice pool you have there.
You have an exercise room, I have a complete gym.
Wow, since when is this a competition?
Oh we can be friends, but if you challenge me… [laughter]
Really? Are you threatening me now?
Perhaps in rich people world, home ownership is a competition–a constant effort to perform greater and greater displays of wealth. Still, is this the best tactic for selling a home? Do you really want to be antagonizing someone who you’re trying to convince to give you nearly $15 million? Do you really think that someone became that insanely wealthy by letting people bully them into making bad business decisions?
Evidentially, this isn’t the best way to sell a house. As the Chicago Tribune reports, Michael Jordan’s estate has been on the market since 2012, and in the last three years he’s dropped the price “from its original listing at $29 million before settling on his latest asking price—$14.9 million— in May.”
